Hasui Kawase Sakurada Gate in the rain

Cherry trees in bloom are seen both inside and outside the gate set in a massive stone wall as three walkers with umbrellas approach to pass through it.  Hasui was fond of portraying views in the rain with few people present, and such prints have a wonderfully private feeling to them.

Image 14 3/8" x 9 1/2" on 15 3/8" x 10 1/2" sheet, complete with all margins and in perfect condition; the impression is sharper than is visible here.  This is a posthumous edition of a print dated 1952.
