Haku Maki
Poem . 68-9, 12/65
This striking and typical Haku Maki print uses the hiragana character for the sound "u" in calligraphy style; aside from the small deep yellow element, the print features the emobssing of three other shapes and the overall texture of the background.
Numbered, titled, dated, (68-9, or September 1968) and signed in pencil in the lower margin (see complete print below), with square red seal in lower left corner; image area is 16 1/4" x 16 1/8" on a 17 1/2" x 17 1/4" sheet; a good strong and clearprint with rich ink tones; some slight toning over all, with discoloration of margins, probably from acidic matboard.
